CLOSE TO 20 CHILDREN AND GIRLS ARE TRAINED TO BE SCHOOL PROMOTERS TO PROMOTE HYGIENE PRACTICES AND THE RESPONSIBLE USE OF WATER IN THE EDUCATIONAL UNIT ARMANDO CORTEZ VILLANUEVA

FSH, March 20, 2018.- Nearly 20 boys and girls from the Armando Cortez Villanueva Educational Unit in the city of La Paz are trained as school promoters to promote hygiene practices, the responsible use of water and the care and maintenance of health services in educational establishments with the aim of contributing to improve the health of students.

The children comprise between 8 and 11 years of age who are trained by technicians of the Sumaj Huasi Foundation as part of the activities of the project “Improvement of hygiene, sanitation and health infrastructure”, which is implemented in the Macro district of Cotahuma, Max Paredes, Peripheral, San Antonio, South and Hampaturi.

Samuel Rojas fifth grade student has stated that he feels leader in his educational unit because he replicated the issues about water care, the proper use of health services in his school and the hygiene hygiene “I commit myself to take care and protect to my companions of the illnesses like the colds, diarreas explaining to them what I learned “, indicated Rojas.

Aracely Mamani 4th grade students committed to taking care of the bathroom, not wasting water and practicing handwashing to avoid contracting diseases “is important what we have been taught, now we have the mission to tell our classmates that we should be responsible with our health, “said Mamani.

On the other hand, the director of the Educational Unit Armando Cortez Villanueva, Jesús Condori, has expressed his gratitude to the institutions that are contributing in the execution of the project that allows them to improve the health conditions of their students.

“I feel happy because we take into account our school is important this type of training because it allows us to educate our children in these issues such as water care, hand washing is vital to enjoy good health, I’m sure they will be good replicators both at school and at home, “said Jesus Condori.

The project is financed by the Education and Cooperation Foundation – EDUCO, in coordination with the Autonomous Municipal Government of La Paz and executed by the Sumaj Huasi Foundation “For Healthy Housing”, the objective of the project is to improve the conditions of hygiene, sanitation and health infrastructure for students of the initial and primary level of 65 educational units of the macro districts of Cotahuma, Max Paredes, Periférica, San Antonio, Sur and Hampaturi.
